170615-N-OI810-1245 SOUTH CHINA SEA (June 15, 2017) The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), middle, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) helicopter destroyer JS Izumo (DDH 183), far, and the JMSDF Takanami-class destroyer JS Sazanami (DDG 113) are underway in formation during a combined Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and U.S. Navy exercise. Participants included Ronald Reagan, the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67), the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Barry (DDG 52) and USS McCampbell (DDG 85), Izumo and the Takanami-class destroyer JS Sazanami (DDG 113).
