David Kurtz, executive officer of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68), fires a MK-38 25mm machine gun system during a live-fire exercise in the Pacific Ocean. Nimitz is underway toward Naval Air Station North Island where they will join Carrier Strike Group 11 to depart on a regularly scheduled deployment.
