170520-N-PP996-074 PACIFIC OCEAN (May 20, 2017) Sailors man the phone and distance line aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) during an underway replenishment with the fleet replenishment oiler USNS Rappahannock (T-AO 204) and the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) in the western Pacific. The phone and distance line allows the ships to communicate with each other and gives the distance between ships. The U.S. Navy has patrolled the Indo-Asia-Pacific routinely for more than 70 years promoting regional peace and security.
