170413-N-ZO915-008 BREMERTON, Washington (April 13, 2017) Master-at-Arms Seaman Crystal Tapp, from Bristol, Tennessee, signs a poster committing to prevent sexual assault in front of a line of teal shoes on USS John C. Stennis' (CVN 74) berthing barge as part of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM). Each pair of teal shoes represents one of the 63 reports of sexual assault made in fiscal year 2016 from Naval Base Kitsap and its tenant commands. The shoe display is one of many events being put on by John C. Stennis during SAAPM, such as the traveling Teal Ribbon display from April 17 to 19, and Denim Day on April 26. John C. Stennis is conducting a planned incremental availability (PIA) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, during which the ship is undergoing scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
