170412-N-ZQ712-0228 PACIFIC OCEAN (April 12, 2017) The amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22) leads the America Amphibious Ready Group, comprised of San Diego, the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) during a simulated straits transit off the coast of Southern California. America is underway with more than 1,000 Sailors and 1,600 Marines conducting amphibious squadron and Marine expeditionary unitit integration operations in preparation for the ship's maiden deployment later this year.
