1703324-N-SD965-414 ROTA, Spain (March 24, 2017) Sailors assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) and Naval Munitions Command, Detachment Rota, conduct crane operations to maneuver a Standard Missile (SM-2) inert shape during an ordnance loading exercise onboard Naval Station Rota, Spain. The exercise was designed to demonstrate the U.S. Navy's capability to load ordnance onto naval vessels in non-traditional locations, and is second in a series of expeditionary weapons loading events planned for the next year in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.
