Michael Desmond hugs a family member during a homecoming celebration at Naval Air Station North Island, Calif. Crew 103 was relieved by Crew 111 aboard the Freedom-class littoral combat ship USS Detroit (LCS 7). The ship is a fast and agile warship tailor made to patrol the region's littorals and work hull-to-hull with partner navies, providing the fleet with the flexible capabilities it needs now and in the future.
