181128-N-TP834-0897 PANAMA CANAL (Nov. 28, 2018) Chief Gunner's Mate Rico Barkell stands watch as the guided-missile destroyer Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Michael Monsoor (DDG 1001) proceeds through the Miraflores Locks while transiting the Panama Canal. The future USS Michael Monsoor is the second ship in the Zumwalt-class of guided-missile destroyers. Michael Monsoor is currently transiting to San Diego, and upon arrival, will begin a combat availability and then undergo a combat test period.
