181124-M-AR302-012 LIMA, Peru (Nov. 24, 2018) Landing craft air cushions from the amphibious transport dock ship USS Somerset (LPD 25) along with U.S. Marines assigned to Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF)-Peru and Peruvian naval infantry light armored vehicles take position on the beach in Lima, Peru, during a humanitarian assistance and disaster relief demonstration. SPMAGTF-Peru's goal is to demonstrate humanitarian assistance and disaster relief response, utilizing the capabilities of U.S. Marines and sailors aboard the Somerset and Peruvian naval forces as a multinational maritime task force. The integrated mission is part of U.S. Southern Command's Enduring Promise initiative and reflects the United States' enduring promise of friendship, partnership and solidarity with the Americas.
