181108-N-XK398-1175 SAIPAN (Nov. 8, 2018) Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Andre Dyke signals heavy equipment from the Guam National Guard, 1224 Engineering Support Company, to move inside the well deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) for Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA) relief efforts on the island of Saipan. Sailors and Marines from Ashland, assigned to Commander, Amphibious Squadron 11, are providing Department of Defense support to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands’ civil and local officials as part of the FEMA-supported Typhoon Yutu recovery efforts.
