181103-N-XK398-1233 TINIAN, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (Nov. 3, 2018) Sailors and Marines, attached to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), load supply trucks into landing craft utility 1633, assigned to Naval Beach Unit 7, inside the well deck of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) in order to debark for Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA) efforts on the island of Tinian, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Sailors and Marines from Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group and 31st MEU team, are preparing to provide Department of Defense support to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands’ civil and local officials as part of the FEMA-supported Super Typhoon Yutu recovery efforts.
