181030-N-AM732-064 PORT GENTIL, Gabon (Oct. 30, 2018) Equipment Operator 2nd Class Tyler Martinshepherd, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 1, operates a mini-excavator to begin compacting around the future Maritime Operations Center (MOC) being constructed at the Gabonese Navy Base in Port Gentil, Gabon. The MOC construction is in support of exercise Obangame Express set to start in March 2019. NMCB-1 is forward deployed to execute construction, humanitarian and foreign assistance, and theater security cooperation in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.
