181011-M-YY851-235 SOUTH CHINA SEA (Oct. 11, 2018) Combat cargo Marines with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) offload gear from an MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 262 (Reinforced), atop the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), underway in the South China Sea, Oct. 11, 2018. Combat cargo Marines off loaded the MV-22B’s, which brought back 31st MEU Marines and gear from exercise KAMANDAG 2. KAMANDAG 2 is a multinational exercise, including; the Republic of the Philippines, Japan, and the United States. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide-range of military operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
