181008-N-ZB537-006 NORTH ATLANTIC (Oct. 8, 2018) The first of three phases, known as the first of class flight trials (fixed wing) developmental testing (DT-1), conducted by the F-35 Patuxent River Integrated Test Force (ITF), held aboard the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth (R08), aimed to generate enough flight test data to certify the F-35B Lightning II fighter jet ready for future operational testing aboard the ship. Nearly 175 ITF members, including four test pilots and two F-35B test jets, joined the ship's 1,500-person crew for DT-1. (U.S. Navy photo courtesy of Lockheed Martin by Dane Wiedmann/Released)
