181002-N-RI884-0083 SINGAPORE (Oct. 2, 2018) Sailors aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) man the rails as the ship arrives in Singapore. Wasp and the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) provided Defense Support to Civil Authorities in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands following the aftermath of Typhoon Mangkhut and conducted training in the East and South China Seas. Wasp, the flagship for the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance amphibious capabilities with regional partners and to serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
