Carey Tunnel toward One World Trade Center during the 17th annual Tunnel to Towers 5K & Walk to pay homage to the city's first responders. Sailors and family members from Navy Recruiting District New York, Navy Operational Support Center New York, and several commands in Virginia participated in the event, which retraces the final steps of Fire Department of the city of New York firefighter Stephen Siller, who lost his life on Sept. 11, 2001, after putting on his gear and running through the tunnel, formerly known as the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, to the Twin Towers.
