180929-M-MA011-137 SOUTH CHINA SEA (Sept. 29, 2018) Marines assigned to Amphibious Reconnaissance Platoon (ARP), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), fast-rope from an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter during visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) training aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1), Sept. 29, 2018. During the training, ARP Marines refined their fast rope capabilities while Marines with the security platoon held aerial security to help simulate a VBSS mission. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible force ready to perform a wide-range of military operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
