180916-N-PC620-0102 NORFOLK (Sept. 16, 2018) A Sailor assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Mitscher (DDG 57) throws a heaving line as the ship returns to Naval Station Norfolk, Sept. 16, 2018, following its sortie due to Hurricane Florence earlier this week. While most ships are making plans to return, the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) and the amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) will remain underway prepared to provide Defense Support to Civilian Authorities (DSCA) if requested through U.S. Northern Command.
