180911-N-DZ919-002 MOORPARK, Calif. (Sept. 11, 2018) Construction Mechanic 3rd Class Lucas Jackson, left, and Construction Mechanic 2nd Class Ryan Filo, assigned to Underwater Construction Team (UCT) 2, hold KM-97 diving helmets for students of Mesa Verde Middle School so they can use the internal communication modules to talk to each other in Moorpark, Calif. This event showcased first responders and included the Ventura County SWAT team, Fire Rescue, Simi Valley Police Department, and the county's lifeguards. The exhibition was presented to honor the victims and those who had bravely put their lives on the line in the 9/11 attack in 2001 and was organized by the school's staff, as well as retired Underwater Construction Technician Chief Builder Vince Hodge. The Naval Construction Force (NCF) provides task-tailored, adaptable, and combat effective engineering and construction forces that deploy to support naval objectives globally and enable logistics for distributed Fleet operations. UCT-2 is a key component of the NCF, providing the capability to construct, inspect, repair, and maintain the full spectrum of maritime infrastructure.
