180909-N-WR252-113 CHUUK, Federated States of Micronesia (Sept. 9, 2018) Steelworker 2nd Class Tyler Ault, a team leader assigned to Underwater Construction Team (UCT) 2, and Chief Steelworker Meko Kaprelian, assistant officer-in-charge of the UCT-2 Construction Diving Detachment Charlie, conduct final connectivity checks prior to conducting a shoal demolition blast at the entrance to the Chuuk cargo port, in the Federated States of Micronesia. UCT-2 placed 252 pounds of explosives into holes bored into a shallow shoal to safely demolish the shoal, which was a hazard to the safe navigation of ships using the port. UCT-2 is a key component of the Naval Construction Force, providing the capability to construct, inspect, repair, and maintain the full spectrum of maritime infrastructure.
