180828-N-CO914-0049 LOS ANGELES (Aug. 28, 2018) Sailors heave on a mooring line and raise the First Navy Jack aboard the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Scout (MCM 8) as the ship is moored at the Port of Los Angeles to begin Los Angeles Fleet Week (LAFW). LAFW is an opportunity for the American public to meet their Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard teams and experience America's sea services. During fleet week, service members participate in various community service events, showcase capabilities and equipment to the community, and enjoy the hospitality of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas.
