180826-N-PH222-0259 TRINCOMALEE, Sri Lanka (Aug. 26, 2018) Senior Chief Damage Controlman Steven Tanner, from Roanoke Rapids, N.C., conducts training on damage control equipment with Sri Lanka navy sailors on the flight deck of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) during a regularly scheduled deployment of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). Anchorage and the embarked Marines of the 13th MEU are conducting a theater security cooperation exercise with the Sri Lankan navy and Marines. Part of a growing U.S.-Sri Lanka naval partnership, the exercise is also an opportunity for U.S. Seventh Fleet to explore local logistics support services for visiting naval forces operating throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
