180822-N-XA496-0035 EAST CHINA SEA (Aug. 22, 2018) Ship's Serviceman 3rd Class Peggy Kennedy, from Sand Springs, Oklahoma, rips apart cardboard boxes to be properly disposed of aboard the Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Ripping burnable waste into smaller pieces allows the ship to reduce the amount of trash it can produce. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
