Rich Brown, commander of Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CNSP), is piped aboard the Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Patriot (MCM 7). Brown's first visit to Sasebo as CNSP provided him the opportunity to engage the waterfront and discuss the future of the surface warfare community, the importance of command, and achieving success in the Surface Force by focusing on the following guiding principles of good stewardship, professional development and safety.
