180731-N-GX781-0104 NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (July 31, 2018) Senior Chief Boatswain's Mate Joseph Tidwell demonstrates proper use of the search and rescue (SAR) medi-vac litter during SAR training aboard the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44). The ship is in Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for a scheduled port visit. The Gunston Hall is on deployment supporting Southern Seas, which is an annual collaborative deployment in the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility where a task group will deploy to conduct a variety of exercises and multinational exchanges to enhance interoperability, increase regional stability, and build and maintain regional relationships with countries throughout the region through joint, multinational and interagency exchanges and cooperation.
