180727-N-OE749-0004 ATLANTIC OCEAN (July 27, 2018) Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Johan Delarosa and Seaman Curtis Smith braid rope in the truck tunnel of the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44). The ship is currently underway for Southern Seas, which is an annual collaborative deployment in the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility where a task group will deploy to conduct a variety of exercises and multinational exchanges to enhance interoperability, increase regional stability, and build and maintain regional relationships with countries throughout the region through joint, multinational and interagency exchanges and cooperation.
