180708-N-GX781-0085 CARIBBEAN SEA (July 8, 2018) Marines attached to Special Purpose Marine-Air Ground Task Force - Southern Command board a CH-53E Sea Stallion helicopter on the flight deck of the Whidbey Island-Class amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44) to conduct maritime interoperability training. The ship is on deployment supporting Southern Seas, which is an annual collaborative deployment in the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility where a task group will deploy to conduct a variety of exercises and multinational exchanges to enhance interoperability, increase regional stability, and build and maintain regional relationships with countries throughout the region through joint, multinational and interagency exchanges and cooperation.
