(June 14, 2018) Equipment Operator 1st Class William Nickeo, a student at Naval Construction Training Center “C�? school in Port Hueneme, Calif., operates a 50-ton lattice boom crawler crane during hands-on practice with pile driving operations, as instructor Max Lopez supervises. The pile driving operations “C�? school course is a module of the crane operator pipeline and teaches equipment operators and construction mechanics how to safely drive and extract piles at the basic level in normal field conditions. Working with timber piles, which are used for building piers and timber bridges, is phase one of the course.
