180504-N-RG482-035 NORTH CHANNEL (May 4, 2018) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG 71) is underway in formation with the Royal Navy Duke-class frigate HMS Montrose (F 236), left, the French Eirdan-class minesweeper FS Andromede (M 643) and the German Bremen-class frigate FGS Lubeck (F 214), not pictured, while in the North Channel, May 4, 2018. The formation was part of a ceremony held to honor the U.S. troop ship SS Tuscania, which was sunk during World War I by a German submarine in the North Channel Feb. 5, 1918 and the Royal Navy troop ship HMS Ontario, which collided with another ship and sank in Machir Bay. The four ships sailed past a monument erected by the American Red Cross in 1920 in memory of the American seaman lost on the Tuscania.
