180412-M-WP334-0028 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (April 12, 2018) A Marine assigned to the Maritime Raid Force (MRF), 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (26th MEU), fast ropes from the back of an MV-22B Osprey assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 162 (Reinforced), during a course of fire aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). The 26th MEU trains to sustain expeditionary readiness across a range of critical capabilities both afloat and ashore in order to be prepared to respond to crisis in the U.S. 5th Fleet Area of Operations.
