180401-N-ZK016-0013 U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (April 1, 2018) The Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima is underway with its amphibious ready group in support of Alligator Dagger 2018 off the coast of Djibouti, Africa. Iwo Jima is homeported in Mayport, Fla., and is on a regularly scheduled deployment to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
