180316-N-YG104-0042 OKINAWA, Japan (March 16, 2018) The dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) is moored at White Beach Naval Facility in Okinawa, Japan, during the embarkation of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU). Ashland is part of the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region as part of a regularly scheduled patrol and provides a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
