180309-N-RP442-127 PACIFIC OCEAN (March 9, 2018) Mass Communication Specialist Seaman John Owen, assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2), documents incoming surface contacts as part of a Ship’s Navy or Otherwise Photographic Intelligence Exploitation Team drill during a simulated strait transit exercise. Essex is training with the other ships from their amphibious ready group in the Navy’s first ARG SWATT.
