180309-N-NB142-009 PACIFIC OCEAN (March 9, 2018) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class Mary Schuman signals to aircraft that they are clear for takeoff on the flight deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex is training with the other ships of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) in the Navy’s first ARG SWATT.
