180215-N-OI558-1528 RED SEA (Feb. 15, 2018) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sampson (DDG 102) transits the Red Sea with the Egyptian navy guided-missile frigate Sharm El-Shiek (F901). Sampson is deployed with the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group to the U.S. 5th fleet area of operations in support of maritime operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.
