180106-M-MW401-138 PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 6, 2018) A Marine with the Low-Altitude Air Defense detachment assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 161 (Reinforced) of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) fires a Stinger launch simulator from the flight deck of amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) during a training exercise. The 15th MEU and America Amphibious Ready Group are operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance regional partnerships and serve as a ready-response capability for any type of contingency.
