191231-N-IY022-1006 IWAKUNI, Japan (Dec. 31, 2019) Equipment Operator 3rd Class Marco Padilla, front, from San Antonio, and Equipment Operator 3rd Class Zhen Liu, from Linyi, China, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, measure the distance between two limitation stakes in support of the landfill capping project in support of Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni. U.S. Navy Seabees deployed with NMCB 5 Detail Iwakuni are completing a landfill capping project to reduce the risk of the bird aerial strike hazard incidents and local wild life from inhabiting areas around MCAS flight operations areas. NMCB 5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
