191120-N-ZW591-1007 SASEBO, Japan (Nov. 20, 2019) Builder 2nd Class Nicholas Gould, from Marshalltown, Iowa, and Builder 3rd Class Lawrence Spears, from Houston, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, Detail Sasebo, set forms for the u-ditch, which is precast concrete in the shape of a U, as a part of the seawall repair seawall repair project on board Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo to further improve the base’s military readiness and capability. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
