(Nov. 13, 2019) Utilitiesman Constructionman Karl Rhoads, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3, fires a M240B machine gun to defend an entry control point from a simulated enemy attack during NMCB-3’s field training exercise (FTX) at Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif. The battalion is conducting Operation Bearing Duel FTX that prepares and tests the battalion’s ability to enter a hostile location, build assigned construction projects and defend against enemy attacks using realistic scenarios while being evaluated by Naval Construction Group 1.
