191111-N-YZ252-0028 NEW YORK (Nov. 11, 2019) An honor guard from the amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) dips the Navy and Marine Corps flags as the national anthem is sung at the New York Athletic Club All Sports Dinner, Nov. 11, 2019. Sailors and Marines assigned to Carter Hall hosted ship tours for the public, paid tribute to veterans of all generations, attended sporting events and marched in New York City’s Veterans Day Parade. This year, the Veterans Day celebration commemorated the centennial of the holiday, established in 1919 as Armistice Day, to commemorate the end of World War I and was officially renamed Veterans Day in 1954.
