191104-N-MA259-1002 SASEBO, Japan (Nov. 4, 2019) Construction Electrician 2nd Class Brandon Rivera, from Victorville, California, deployed with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5 Detail Sasebo, positions concrete underneath the seawall as a part of port repairs on Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo to further improve the base’s military readiness and capability. U.S. Navy Seabees at Detail Sasebo are currently repairing the typhoon damaged seawall to mitigate erosion and destabilization of the adjacent Pre-Engineered Building Foundation. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
