191030-M-GX379-062 DJIBUTI CITY, Djibouti (Oct. 30, 2019) Members of the Djiboutian navy and Djiboutian coast guard clear out a room in a Force Protection Ship Simulator (FPSS), commonly referred to as a “Ship in a Box” during International Maritime Exercise 2019 and exercise Cutlass Express 19.2. Throughout the morning, service members from partner nations were given instruction on topics ranging from tactical combat causality care (TCCC) to visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS). The exercise serves to demonstrate the global resolve in maintaining regional security and stability, freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce from the Suez Canal south to the Bab-el-Mandeb through the Strait of Hormuz to the Northern Arabian Gulf.
