191028-N-LW757-1031 SAN DIEGO (Oct. 28, 2019) Hospitalman Shelby Cunningham, an optician assigned to Naval Health Clinic, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, participates in a hospital corpsman skills basic (HMSB) recertification clinic at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), Oct. 28. HMSB is designed to refresh and recertify hospital corpsman to perform basic skills such as inserting an IV, assessing patients, administering medication and drawing blood. NMCSD's mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high-quality healthcare services, and shape the future of military medicine through education, training and research.
