(Oct. 18, 2019) Master Chief Sonar Technician (Submarine) Kellen Voland, Chief of the Boat for the Virginia-class attack submarine USS North Dakota (SSN 784), ceremonially informs North Dakota’s commanding officer, Cmdr. Mark Robinson, that he has received the ashes of Jackie “Mom” Kaye for eventual burial at sea. Kaye and her husband, Norman “Pop,” adopted entire submarines and provided care packages to Sailors and allow them to rest in their Fort Lauderdale, Fla., home and were beloved by the submarine community.
