191011-N-SS350-1143 ARABIAN SEA (Oct. 11, 2019) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Craig Smitherman directs an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter assigned to the Nightdippers of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSC) 5 to land aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Bainbridge (DDG 96). Bainbridge is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
