190906-F-ML202-019 FREEPORT, Bahamas (Sept. 6, 2019) In support of foreign disaster relief efforts in the Bahamas, a U.S. Air Force MRZR tactical vehicle is off-loaded from a Marine Corps CH-53 Super Stallion helicopter at Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport, Bahamas, Sept. 6, 2019. The MRZR will allow a joint airfield assessment team to rapidly evaluate the condition of airfields throughout the Bahamas. In support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) foreign disaster relief efforts, the Department of Defense is bringing unique military capabilities to enable the broader response effort. The secretary of defense authorized U.S. Northern Command to provide transportation logistics for the movement of USAID and third party humanitarian commodities and personnel throughout the region and to conduct assessments of critical transportation nodes to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance and maximize the flow of disaster relief into the area.
