(Aug., 7, 2019) Navy Divers from Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 3 connect the wench line to an Amphibious Construction Battalion One Improved Navy Lighterage System Craft in order to lift NASA’s forward bay cover from the water, as a part of the Orion Space Shuttle recovery training exercise. This was an experimental exercise for the future launch of the Orion Space Shuttle with training focused on the recovery of the forward bay cover, which is the top of the capsule that detaches after reentering the atmosphere allowing the parachute to deploy for the capsule and the crew inside.
