Turner, right, present a gift to Dr. Ann O'Keefe Ed.D., first director of the Navy Family Support Program, during a 40th anniversary celebration of the Fleet and Family Support Program in CNIC Headquarters at the Washington Navy Yard, D.C. On July 16, 1979, the first Navy Family Service Center was officially opened in Norfolk and the name changed in 2001 to Fleet and Family Support Center in order to emphasize additional support programs and to center its mission on supporting the Sailor and the family.
