190716-N-RI884-1283 LANGHAM BEACH, Australia (July 16, 2019) Landing craft, air cushion (LCAC) 8 and LCAC 29, assigned to Naval Beach Unit 7, sit on a beach along Northern Australia following beach operations with Marines, assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), from the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). Wasp, flagship of the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is currently participating in Talisman Sabre 2019 off the coast of Northern Australia. A bilateral, biennial event, Talisman Sabre is designed to improve U.S. and Australian combat training, readiness and interoperability through realistic, relevant training necessary to maintain regional security, peace and stability.
