190710-N-SS350-1130 GULF OF OMAN (July 10, 2019) Sailors attempt to stop the flow of water from a simulated broken water pipe during a damage control university training exercise aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Bainbridge (DDG 96). Bainbridge is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operation in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
